Sylvio Casparis
Mr Casparis, a native of northern Italy, arrived in Columbus with his English wife Louise Graves Casparis in 1890. He was a railroad contractor and bank director. His most notable success and fortune was made after he acquired the quarry from the estate of T. J. Price in 1892 and formed the Casparis Stone Company. He was the first to take stone from the west side of the river. He lived in this “starter” home with his wife and three children prior to moving to the “Casparis Castle” down the street. He died in 1921.
