William J. Merkle
Columbus restaurant owner, whose father founded Merkle’s . This company operated in Columbus, Chicago, Toledo, and other railroad terminals throughout the midwest. Enormously successful, it even marketed its own brand of coffee and coffee pot. He and his wife Ada Boyle Merkle, and their six children lived in the OLV house from 1910 to 1922 . His great grandson recalls that he was always holding one of his dogs.
