Ohio Bicentennial Marker

The Grandview Bank Block

The GH/MCHS is proud to announce that the Bank Block has been awarded an Ohio Historical Marker!!
These markers, a small part of the Ohio Bicentennial celebration, are awarded to only those sites which have played
a major role of importance in Ohio history.
Each marker is hand-crafted and contain text describing the significance of the site.

GET INVOLVED WITH THE BICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE!!

We have begun to prepare for our local Bicentennial celebration in 2003!! Plans will include children and adults alike. This event is statewide and many exciting projects have already begun. Many communities are doing things such as planting Johnny Appleseed trees and putting together commemorative quilts. We held a community educational program at the library on May 30th, 2001. Administrators from the Bicentennial Committee showed their film, "A Time to Celebrate", featuring Hal Holbrook, and were available for discussion afterwards. If you would like to volunteer to be on the Grandivew Bicentennial Committee, or have any questions about the Bicentennial, please contact Tracy Liberatore, Chair, at 488-0425.

The following images were taken at the installation ceremony on June14, 2001 at 4:30PM. Board President Tray Liberatore was the host, and our guests included members of the Bicentennial Commission, Rep. Geoff Smith, Sen. Priscilla Mead, Don Casto, Mike Waggenbrenner, and members of the Grandview Heights City Council. The Boy Scouts from Troop 73 in Grandview presented the colors, and Board Member Wayne Carlson read a proclamation from Mayor Colleen Sexton, who was not able to attend. Spagio's sponsored a short reception after the unveiling.
